After the injury...
I did almost nothing in early-mid October and then ran into a glass door on Oct. 20, so I was out of commission for a while. When I ran for 52 min last weekend, I could still feel it in my nose. My legs were more tired (after, not during) than they've been. I realized I was more out of shape than I thought!
Two days later I ran for just 20 minutes even though I had a lot of work to do. It was so nice outside. Yesterday (11/14) we walked to the bank and I jogged just a little bit in some sprinkles (pushing the jogging stroller) and found I was in a better mood than the weather hinted. Yoga the previous day might have helped, too (my son played the whole class so I got a decent practice in!)

so much inactivity
I ran just a few times this summer, what with all the stress and busy-ness of the move.
The other day, I walked to the frog pond & airplane park with a friend and jogged home. But I was wearing old shoes and ended up with shin splints. Ouch! I couldn't run 4 days later, but I was able to elliptical.
This morning, though, my husband took our son to the sitter's. I jogged for 45 min just (past the 50 underpass). It was cool and wonderful, and my shins are fine, I think. I hope I can make a habit of that once school starts (might be time to cancel the expensive gym membership!)

um, it's not May anymore?
I think on May 23 or 24 we all went out as a family together. LJ and the boy stayed to play at the park while I ran to Wilson, probably for a total of 5+ miles.

Half-marathon lead-up, follow-up
Did no long run May 2-3 b/c of open house (trying to sell home). Did yoga class on Monday and was too sore (!) to run Tues. I think on Wed. I jogged to the gym and jogged some on the treadmill and maybe did elliptical...? Can't remember.
Took a short walk on Sat. May 9 and then ran the Pacers Running Festival on May 10! Started morning with tummy trouble and didn't eat much before event -- half a banana and some sunflower butter right 20 min. before. Weather was cool & sunny - very nice to start. I was too far up front at the start of the race and passed NO ONE. First two miles in 17:18 (all downhill). Nine miles in 45:22, I think. Was on pace to beat last year's 2:05:30, but the last two miles were all into the wind and I felt like I was pushing against a wall. Finished in 2:05:57 I think. Had to put head down shortly after finishing for a few seconds but then felt fine. Had nice brunch after (walked up Rosslyn hill happily enough).
A little sore next day but gone by Tues. Later in week had no energy. Didn't really even feel like doing yoga. Jogged around a little with boy in stroller putting up Open House signs on Friday, May 22 -- maybe 2 miles. Ate lots on Monday, May 18 at bday party and felt sugared out. No energy to want to run or do yoga.

Late April - including a race!
The last week in April, I started doing more regular yoga in morning.
Saturday, April 25 -- Just 15 min jog plus some walking. Already warm at 9:15 a.m.!
Sunday, April 26, 2009 -- GW Parkway Classic in 1:31:3something. That's over 6 minutes faster than I ran the Cherry Blossom 10-Miler in 2005 (2.5 months before conceiving). This race day was hot! And a lot in the sun. I was sweating already under 20 min, at 2 miles, before 8:20 a.m.

Mid-April
Monday, 4/13 ? was it Monday? I think so. 9 miles to EFC (5 mile marker). Nice then got a little cool/cloudy. Felt fine.
Thursday 4/16 - jogged to gym, biked 20 min, elliptical ? 10? 20? min & jogged home (tummy upset at beginning then okay but didn't feel strong)
Saturday, 4/19 - 9 miles to EFC, warm. not much under 10/9:40s. Too hungry/warm - stopped partway up final hill home (had been eating sugar & chocolate again)
Tuesday, 4/20 - 25 min through park after walking with J & E & then splitting. Felt heavy. nice weather. took small amt of iodine later plus mineral drops

Sun., March 22 - about 11 miles, 1 hr 55 min (including stop lights and asking for directions to my friend's house. 9 miles on the trail to mile 10.5 (+1 to get there and one to get to her house). Beautiful day! Shorts & sport shirt -- cold to start but def. the right way to go. Sunny. So quiet that far out! Didn't even notice the next day that I'd run. Averaging 9:30s

I keep thinking I'll keep track of my running somewhere on paper, but it's not happening. So here is what I can remember of my recent runs:
Today, March 14:
Ran through park to gym (around 20 min), biked 15 min (while reading Edwidge Danticat short story in New Yorker), then jogged 5 miles in 45 min. on treadmill. Ran back home (10 min) and walked up big hill for a total of 1 hr 45 min exercise time (minus a few min with clothes on/off). Chilly, and rainy on the way home!
Wednesday, March 11:
About 4 miles with stroller to pond, park then nature center and back home. Out for over two hours (including lots of looking at snakes, turtles, the owl)
Saturday, March 7:
Almost 12 miles on trail to Great Falls Rd. Right ankle felt a little tender after but not a problem. Got chiro adjustment two days later (long overdue). Warm weather! Left about 12:30 p.m. Ran for 1 hr 55 min
